My philosophy of teaching is quite simple and to the point. I believe the core goal of education is to put the child's needs and wants first, and not teach to test. With the younger grades (Kindergarten through 2nd), it is important to instill certain routines and responsibilities within the student, such as bringing papers home to their parents, regularly doing their classwork, learning how to positively interact with others, and how to respond to authority and listen to what the teacher is asking of them. These are all important attributes that are important when preparing a child for good habits later in life.

My responsibilities as a teacher would include listening and observing to see what needs each child has, then finding a way to successfully teach in a way that is positive and helpful. I want my students to want to learn, and have a love of learning. I also feel that I have a responsibility to the parents of the student's that are in my class. As their teacher, I am responsible for keeping them safe and helping them to grow and explore the world around them.

A school should be a happy and welcoming place for children of all backgrounds, where they can feel comfortable and loved. Schools should provide as a safe haven for children who do not have pleasant home lives, and a fun place to make friends and learn something new every day. An elementary school is the foundation and the beginning of children's educational careers, and it should be a positive experience so that the students will want to continue to learn.

Technology and Education
As the world around us becomes more technologically advanced every single day, it is my hope that as a teacher, I will be able to adequately prepare my students for this society. Technology is all around us in the classroom, and I will use these technologies to the best of my abilities to better teach my students. I will strive to use a mix of "old school" teaching styles and integrate technology when it better suits the lesson plan or helps my students grasp a concept better. I believe that technology is very important, and should be used by all grades and levels of technology users. Integrating technology into the classroom will help the children of the future learn better, because they have been brought up with new technologies every day.
